Liverpool’s new boy, Iago Aspas’ move to Anfield is set to be concluded next week despite claims it has been hindered by Spanish Football Federation over a paperwork disagreement.
The Spaniard, whose deal will cost the Kops £7.7m, quelled the notion that he has been brought in to replace wantaway striker Luis Suarez.
Liverpool have agreed a deal in principle with Celta Vigo for the 25-year-old center-forward, Aspas, who also said he is looking forward to lining up alongside with the controversial Uruguayan at the Merseyside club next season, despite the latter been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
“Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and I am going there to take an important step in My career, not to be a replacement for anyone,” Aspas told the Daily Mirror.
“I want to show that I am capable of playing at the level of this huge club.
“I am excited to be going to England- I want to play in the Premier League,” the Spaniard added.
“And I hope I will be helped to settle there by all the Spanish speakers at the club… including Suarez.”
