Obi Doles Out Cheques Of N220m To Mission Schools, Hospitals

PeterObiTwo Churches have benefitted from a largesse totalling N220m from Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State to help them run their schools and hospitals.

A breakdown of the donation shows that on Wednesday, Obi gave a cheque of N10m to the Anglican Bishop of Amichi, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor, for the renovation of the Amichi Diocesan Hospital.

A move that made the clergyman hail Obi as a blessing not just to the State but to humanity at large and also prayed God to raise more people like him for the edification of society.

Earlier, on Tuesday, the governor had toured some missionary institutions, where he gave out cheques totaling N120m.

That visit was continued On Wednesday and witnessed the donation of N100m before the governor had to cut short the visits to attend to students of the Anambra State University that were protesting the killing of a female student at Igbariam campus by armed bandits.

Wednesday’s tour took Obi to St. Raphael’s School Abatete, where he presented a cheque of N10m to them; Premier Secondary School, Unubi where he presented a cheque of N10m; Mother of Mercy Girls Secondary School, Azigbo, where he promised to support the school; Our Lady of Lourdes  Hospital, Ihiala, where he presented a cheque totaling N60m for various projects.

In all the institutions the governor visited, especially schools handed over back to the missionaries, he decried the level of dilapidation, expressed regrets and apologised for the takeover of the schools and pledged government’s continued support to them until they attain their original glory.

The governor justified his support for the mission institutions because they served the people of the State.
