Southern Kaduna Elders Pledge Loyalty To Gov. Yero

Gov YeroSouthern Kaduna Elders Consultative Forum (SKECF) has pledged loyalty to the administration of Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero.

Chairman of the forum, General Zamani Lekwot (rtd), made the pledge when the Governor paid him a condolence visit on the death of his younger brother, Peter Lekwot.

Lekwot, a former military administrator of Rivers State under the Murtala-Obasanjo regime, said the major interest of members of the forum who are mostly retirees, was the restoration of peaceful coexistence in all parts of the state.

“Our major interest now is to mobilize our people towards the sustenance of peace in the state and to support your administration to succeed. We therefore pledge our loyalty to this administration,” Governor Yero’s media aide, Ahmed Maiyaki in a statement, quoted Lekwot as saying.

Earlier in his remarks, the Governor extolled the virtues of late Peter Lekwot, describing his death as shocking.

“Mr. Peter Lekwot was an astute educationist, who served in several capacities as teacher, principal and philanthropist. Lekwot paid his dues and deserves all the encomiums being poured on him and even more for the roles he played not only in deepening democracy in Kaduna State, but ensuring peaceful coexistence in the state”, he said.
