This Is The World’s Ugliest Dog 2013

Forget hairless Chihuahuas and Chinese cresteds, there is a new top dog when it comes to being ugly.

Four-year-old Walle, a huge-headed, duck-footed mix of beagle, boxer and basset hound, upset the form book by winning the 25th annual World’s Ugliest Dog Contest.

He was entered at the last minute by Tammie Barbee from Chico, California, and beat competition from 29 other dogs.

Tammie, who has had Walle since he was three months old, said: “People come up to me and say that dog is not right – but I love him.”

Judges said they were especially impressed by Walle’s bizarre waddle of a walk in the competition held in Petaluma, north of San Francisco.

Judge Brian Sobel commented: “This dog looked like he’s been photo-shopped with pieces from various dogs and maybe a few other animals.”

Walle wins 1,500 dollars (£1,000) and will make several network TV appearances next week, including NBC’s Today show and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Organisers say the dogs are judged for their “natural ugliness in both pedigree and mutt classes”.
