Former Nigeria Super Eagles midfielder, Thompson Oliha, has passed on.

The superb playmaker was part of the victorious Super Eagles’ squad to the 1994 Tunisia Nations Cup where Nigeria won gold.

Oliha died on Sunday at exactly 4.05am at the Yusjib industrial medicare hospital, Ilorin, Kwara State, supersport.com has revealed.

Until his death, Oliha was the head coach of Kwara Football Academy (KFA) in Ilorin Kwara State.

Doctor Yusuf Abdulkareem revealed that the former Bendel Insurance and Antalyaspor (of Turkey) midfielder was brought to the hospital at a critical point, when nothing could be done to resuscitate his life.

“I feel so bad to confirm to you that Thompson Oliha is dead and by the time his wife brought him here the body was completely lifeless,” Abdulkareem told supersport.com.

“His wife Irish Oliha told me that he slumped in the toilet before rushing him to the hospital and there was nothing we could do to save him.”

Oliha made a total of 31 appearances for the full Nigeria national football team, scoring two goals. He made his international debut in 1990, in a game against Senegal and made his last appearance at the 1994 FIFA World Cup, as a late substitute against Italy. He retired at the age of 27, as a result of serious injury.
