Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo is set to complete his £24.5m move to Manchester City on Wednesday afternoon, says Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido.

City and Sevilla have now come to terms for the 27-year-old to move to the Etihad Stadium and he is expected to join the Sky Blues in South Africa where the team is presently holding their pre-season training.

City will pay an initial £21.5m for the striker but the fee could rise by £3m following add-ons.

“We are about to complete the sale of Negredo to Manchester City. If all goes well, he will say goodbye this afternoon at the Sanchez Pizjuan,” said Del Nido.

“City are signing a great player. It is the contract of his life.”

Negredo scored 31 times in 42 appearances for Sevilla last season and was part of Spain’s victorious Euro 2012 squad.

He will fill the gap left open by the departure of Carlos Tevez to Juventus, however, City are keen on bringing in Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina.
