Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku has said that loyalty to President Goodluck Jonathan is a necessity, not a luxury.

Maku, who was appointed supervising Minister of Defence on Wednesday, spoke when he received handing over notes from the sacked Minister of State for Defence, Erelu Olusola Obada, at a brief ceremony in Abuja yesterday.

In his words, “Loyalty to the Commander in Chief is not a luxury, it is a necessity, besides this, loyalty to our country and its development is what we must all do”.

He pledged total commitment to the goals and objectives of the armed forces, while promising to put in more effort to ensure that ongoing internal military operations in all hot spots in the country result in victories.

Earlier, the outgone minister expressed appreciation to President Jonathan and all the staff of the ministry for their support and commitment to duty in the 26 months that she held forte.

Erelu Obada tasked Maku on the need to complete work on the outstanding National Defence Policy which was not done this year due to paucity of funds.
