Manchester City have reportedly continued monitoring Malaga goalkeeper Willy Caballero, after the Premier League outfit failed to land the Argentine in the summer.
Coach Manuel Pellegrini will want to offer Englishman Joe Hart, who has been under pressure of late after a couple of high-profile blunders in the Champions and Premier League, a stiff competition .
The Chilean, who worked with the 32-year-old at Malaga, regards the shot-stopper as a strong character.
British news tabloid Daily Mail revealed the transfer news in the summer and the player has moved to confirm his former boss’ interest.
“I spoke to Pellegrini before he left Malaga,” the goalkeeper said. “I know of his intention to take me with him but I was unsure whether he would stick with the goalkeepers he had or play me.”
He is understood to be open to a move to Manchester as Malaga contemplates selling their highest earner in January.
