New PDP Says Jonathan’s Refusal To Recognize Amaechi As NGF Chairman Unfortunate

Jonathan and AmaechiThe Abubakar Kawu Baraje-led faction of Peoples Democratic Party has described the recognition of Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum by President Goodluck Jonathan as unfortunate.

It further said the president’s non-recognition of the Rivers State governor, Chibuike Amaechi, who scored 19 votes as against Jang’s 16 votes in the NGF election in May to emerge the forum’s chairman, was dangerous, unjustifiable, regrettable and unacceptable.

The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Mr. Ahmed Gulak, said on Monday that Mr. Jonathan did not attend the NGF retreat in Sokoto last week where he was billed to deliver the keynote address because he did not recognize Amaechi’s chairmanship of the forum.

However, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Chukwuemeka Eze in Abuja on Wednesday, the New PDP as the Baraje faction is known said the president’s action was capable of sending the wrong signals to the international community.

He said, “The continued refusal of The Presidency to recognise Amaechi as Chairman of the NGF is, to say the least, unfortunate, dangerous, unjustifiable, regrettable and unacceptable.

“The Presidency had reiterated this position while justifying the absence of President Goodluck Jonathan at the retreat recently organised in Sokoto by the NGF and to which President Jonathan was invited to deliver the keynote address.”

  1. Are you people still asleep about Amaechi and his rebellious ordeals that has always been his life to ferment troubles when sincerity can stand. No man eats his cake and have it same time what ever a man sows that will he reap.
