Al-Mustapha Challenges Obasanjo To Public Debate On Content Of Letter To Jonathan

HamzaAl-MustaphaAndObasanjoRecently released former Chief Security Officer to late Head-of-State, Gen. Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, has challenged ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, to a public debate on any national issue.

Al-Mustapha threw the challenge at the former president while speaking in an interview with the Hausa Service of the Voice of America, monitored in Abuja, on Wednesday.

Al-Mustapha was reacting to the contents of a letter written by Obasanjo to President Goodluck Jonathan in which he alleged that snipers were being trained in North Korea. The former president also insinuated that Mr. Jonathan interfered with the court process to set an unnamed murderer free, and organised a presidential reception for him in a veiled reference to Al-Mustapha.

But the former CSO explained that he was not around when Obasanjo’s letter was leaked to the public as he was away in India receiving treatment for injuries he sustained while in detention but that he had read the letter in the media.

In his initial reaction to the letter when it first came out, Al-Mustapha, who spoke through his counsel Barrister Olalekan Ojo dismissed Obasanjo’s allegation as “disturbing, worrisome and unwarranted”.

Al-Mustapha said the former president is aware that he knows Nigeria as much as he (Obasanjo) knows the country. As such, he was ready to face him anywhere in the world to discuss matters relating to Nigeria.

“First of all, he (Obasanjo) did not mention me by name in his letter. Secondly, he knows that I know Nigeria as much as he does, if he has something to tell me, I want him to come out and tell me straight”, Al-Mustapha said.

“He should ask me or challenge me, I challenge him to (discuss) anything about Nigeria that he wants to talk about even long before he became Head-of-State (1976-1979), I am ready to meet him in public anywhere in the world”, he added.

Responding to a specific question on allegations that he was privy to the on-going training of snipers, Al-Mustapha swore that it was all lies.

The former CSO said he is a devout Muslim and has over the years facilitated the recruitment of northerners into the military and para-military agencies; and would therefore never involve himself in anything that would betray the region or bring the North to ridicule.

“Perhaps it is Obasanjo and his cronies that are planning what he was insinuating”, he added.

Al-Mustapha said he had decided to forgive all those who had a hand in his incarceration when he was being tried for the murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, wife of the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief MKO Abiola. He was initially convicted for the murder by a Lagos High Court but was later discharged and acquitted by the Court of Appeal.

He, however, added that such people, including Mr. Obasanjo have failed to accept that fact and still harbour fears about him and what he knows about them.

“I urge everyone to pray for Obasanjo to accept my challenge for a public debate so that the truth will come out”, he said.

The former CSO restated his commitment to helping Nigeria find its rhythm by uniting the people, especially the youth and the poor.

“From 1974 to the present, a lot of things are buried with all sorts of lies. But all would be revealed one day”, Al-Mustapha said.

  1. Wisdom the bible says is profitable to direct. It is good to celebrate with all excitement, but better when done moderately and with wisdom. The decision we make today determines our tomorrow. The action or inaction of a man will either be regretted or appreciated. Some people who SAW while others were LOOKING sought for money to purchase some plots of land at the present Lekki Penninsula when a plot of land in that arear was been sold for as low as between N500,000 and N1m; are reaping the benefits now that its now been sold for as high as N130m. Some heard of it then and ignored it or never believed such an area could develop, bringing about drastic appreciation of properties in the area. Lekki Free Trade Zone, The New International Airport, The Deep Seaport (which will be the second in Africa after that in South Africa), The Lagos Industrial site, Eleganza Industrial site, The Permanent site of PAN Africa University and many more developmental projects are springing up in Epe, Ibeju Lekki and their axis. Blue Chip Companies are now acquiring hecters of land in that area. Just for the ones

  2. How did everyone got this wrong? Obasanjo is actually referring to Alhaji Mujadid Asari Dokubo in his letter. Recall he was arrested in Benin Republic and he was allegedly released on the order of the presidency and flew in FG plane back into the country

  3. WAKE UP NIGERIANS
Good morning everyone, i want to ask all nigerians why did you fold your arms on the OPEN LETTER WROTE by ex-president of this nation to the present one.
is it because some of us are not politician ? or what ? Obasanjo is not crazy or saddest he want us to be awake from our sleeping i have the previledge to read the letter. let wake and stand for our right. in this nation we have peoples more intelligent.

  4. Fellow Nigerians,
I noted and followed with kin interest the happening in my father land. it is notable that there were many things in the shadow which might never come to the open! perhaps, that is what is keeping Nigeria together till now.
in my opinion, Al-Mustapha should rether keep mute from the affairs of the country for the good of Nigerians, the polity and his goodself. Each time he speaks i still cant find any necessity for him to talk. If i am to see him personnally, i will advice him to remain mute for good of all of us.

  5. Hello Nigerians, this is d right time for us to listen and listen well.
Obasanjo has open a top secret that exposes a lot abt GEJ and his intention towards Nigeria.
Before he can come out openly to expose that GEJ is training some “Hired Killers” in Korea, he must have sensed something. He can’t just talk for talking sake.
Yet, Nigerians pretend as if what he said was out of political scores.
Let me open our inner eyes on 3 reason why 2015 will not be like all d transition we’ve witnessed.
    1. GEJ, seeing d rate APC are going winning more to their side on daily basis will not fold his arm while others will hijack POWER from him cheaply.
    2. 2015 may be a year of Coup de tat in Nigeria. D FG will be so engrossed with d election and when d Military see it as a threat to d peace of d Nation, they will intervene (God forbid I pray)
    3. GEJ has everything within his power to help D ijaw Secceed from d present day Nigeria, and that where my fear comes in as regard d “Machinery”.
This is a time Nigeria need ur prayer most.
Al-Mustapha is suffering from self Conscious Fever, cos no presidential party was organised for him. Asari Dokubo knew what OBJ is saying and that’s why he kept mute.
Obasanjo will not just say anything for saying sake.
Watch out! Pray!! And be ur brothers keeper.
    God bless Nigeria.

  6. Mustapha, you must remain mute forever,no one is interest in the truth you didn’t reveal when sanni abacha was alive
challenging Obasanjo to a public debate is just a way of gaining national and international attention again,You don’t even have respect you want to challenge Obasanjo!
I even trust Baba he won’t belittle himself,he won’t respond to a noise from somebody like you

  7. We all know dt OBJ’s letter was just meant to instigate political tention in Nigeria. Almustapha should remain silent bcos what ever he says will not help Nigeria move forward in any way. I think he is just tryin to drag himself into Nigeria’ s political issues. OBJ has no moral right what so ever to critisize GEJ’s administration bcos he never did better durin his time. he is an old dt is preparin for his eternal rest, he should not bring up issues dt will add more tensions to d already security tensions we ar havin in dis country. GEJ has tryd and he would hav done better is nt for d insecurity in d country wich is offcourse created by some wicked politicians in a bid to destroy d good plans he hard for d country. let us wise up stop allowin ourselves as beats for politicians in their political blashin. thesame pdp politicians are out again entryin into apc where de think dey can. easily achieve their selfish aims. OBJ is standing aside pointing accusin fingers on d pdp he once led from, ,makin ppl to think dt our saviour is comin from apc(d new reformed theives). can someone please tel me what makes d difference?

  8. @Mike, God richly bless you. Al mustapha has said nothing wrong, fine, he was convicted, he has been rehabilitated, do this OBJ’S supporters knw hw many people OBJ has killed in the quest to remain in power for third term tenure. The failure of democracy in Nigeria is traced to him. If OBJ has moral justification to his claims then he should come out for a debate.OBJ is a charmelion- the first president that had issues with his VP.

  9. i THINK BABA LETTER IS THE TRUE VIEW OF THE PLAN OF JONATHAN,FOR EXAMPLE THE MONEY THAT SANUSI SPOKE ABOUT AND THE TWIST OF IT,BESIDE MUSTHAFAR HAS SOME THINGS TO SAY BECAUSE IS A NIGERIA U CANT NOT JUST RIGHT HIM OFF,AND STOP ACCUSING HIM OF KILLING KUDIRAT WHEN HE HAS NOT BE CONVICTED BY ANY COURT.
