Edo State Police Command has assured motorists travelling to the South-East and other states in the South-South through Benin by-pass at this festive season, that it had mapped out strategies to ensure security along the road.
Speaking, weekend, Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Folunso Adebanjo said arrangement to beef up security along the notorious Benin bypass is in top gear.
“You are already aware that the bypass is no longer haven for armed robbers. We have a special squad that will ensure that Nigerians ply that road without any fear,” Adebanjo said.
He also dismissed claim by the family of one Samuel Imaikop that the deceased was a victim of extra-judicial killing, as an attempt to ridicule the command and distort facts.
The late Michael was among four suspected armed robbers killed by the police penultimate Sunday, following which the family of the deceased had engaged the Police command in a war of words over the death, insisting that the deceased was a farmer and not an armed robber as claimed by the police.
