A German lottery winner claims she flushed her entire €400,000 winnings down the TOILET.
Angela Maier insists she did so to prevent the money being used to pay care home bills for her late husband.
Shortly after learning of her win Maier got the demand to stump up the money owed for the home that cared for her spouse before he died.
On the day in question she says she had drunk five bottles of champagne.
And in her drunken state she tore up all 800 of the €500 notes and flushed them down the toilet to stop it being used for the medical bills.
As a result, she claimed she didn’t have any money left to compensate the care home.
The court heard that it wasn’t technically illegal to have destroyed the money.
But it was ruled that only an expert would be able to decide whether Maier was actually telling the truth, something the court suggested was more effort than it was worth.
Maier agreed to pay €4,000 (£3,310) in compensation to settle the case
