Convener of Niger Delta Patriotic Initiative, NDPI, Mr Michael Tidi, has described the recent award of scholarship slots to Itsekiri youths by the Federal Government as an indication of the government’s commitment to addressing the grievances arising from the amnesty programme.
Tidi, an Itsekiri activist, noted that President Goodluck Jonathan deserved commendation for the gesture.
Tidi said this while briefing newsmen in Warri, stating that the programme would afford the beneficiaries the opportunity to acquire the much needed leadership skills to make them useful to themselves and the society.
“Mr. President’s gesture must be applauded as a positive step in the right direction,”n Tidi said.
