The university community at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria was thrown into mourning yesterday as four of its lecturers were killed in a car accident on the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
Those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident include Professor Samuel Kafewo, Dr Martins Ayegba, Nana Aisha Ali, and one yet to be identified person, all of the Faculty of Arts.
Renowned playwright, Professor Jenkeri Zakari Okwori of the Department of Theatre and Performing Arts is said to be critically injured, according to Dr. Ismail Shehu, Head of Directorate of Public Affairs, ABU, Zaria, who confirmed the development.
The lecturers, it was learnt, were returning to Zaria after attending a function in Abuja.
