Atletico Madrid have been fined £492 after Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo was struck on the head with a cigarette lighter during Tuesday’s Copa del Rey semi-final second leg tie.
Portuguese winger Ronaldo was withdrawing from the pitch into the dressing room at half-time at Atletico’s Vicente Calderon when he was hit by the object, which appeared to have come from the crowd.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) said it was an isolated situation and that the fine would have been halved had the Los Roji Blancos been able to identify the culprit.
The 29-year-old reigning World Footballer of the Year was not seriously injured and was able to play on.
Real won 5-0 on aggregate and will face Barcelona in the final.
