Steven Gerrard believes Liverpool can challenge for the Premier League title this season.
The Anfield club secured a 3-0 win away at Southampton on Saturday and now trails leaders Chelsea by four points, having recorded 59 points from a possible 84.
And with Arsenal losing at Stokes and Manchester City not in league action, the Reds now sit second with 10 games left until the end of the season.
“…for us as players it’s just a case of staying calm and relaxed,” Gerrard told the Liverpool Echo. “We can’t get carried away.
“We are in the race, we have no other distractions and we believe we can compete for it, but there is still a long way to go.
“There’s a great togetherness in this team. The spirit in the dressing room is something the manager has created.
“There is a lot of belief in the team. Games like the win at Southampton, coupled with what we’ve done at home recently to the likes of Everton and Arsenal, have fueled that belief.”
