Sunday’s El Clasico win over Real Madrid saw the Catalans close the gap between them and both capital city sides to a point, while they occupy the third spot on the table.

Barca also stand the chance of claiming a treble this season with their Copa Del Rey final match against Real slated for April 16.

“At the moment there are so many important games that are left to play that is what he is concentrating on,” Bartomeu added.

Meanwhile, playmaker Lionel Messi will become the world’s highest paid footballer once negotiations over his new contract are finalised, according to the club boss.

Bartomeu said: “He is our star and he has a contract until 2018 because we want him to participate in our future, but there is the will within the club that he becomes the best paid player in the world.

“He is the number one and, as we have said various times, he also deserves to be the best paid player in the world.”
