Okorocha Has Demystified Governance In Imo – Commissioner

rochas-okorochaThe era of political godfathers, who in the past constituted themselves into a cabal just to gain unfettered access to the treasury of Imo State at the detriment of the people, has been dismantled by Governor Rochas Okorocha. This is according to the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. Theo Ekechi.

He said that the governor had succeeded in changing the political psyche of the masses to make them appreciate that power actually belong to the people.

Ekechi, who made the observation yesterday, at a parley with journalists in his office, said that those political leaders, who saw themselves as godfathers and patricians that must decide how the state was governed, had been rendered powerless by Governor Okorocha, adding that they now knew that power belong to the people.

According to him, Imo people were now seen and treated as equal stakeholders.

The commissioner said that Gov. Okorocha had also removed the imaginary veil between the government and the governed as Imo people now had access to those they voted into office unlike what was obtainable about 12 years ago, when the people had no access to political office holders.

He said: “The greatest achievement of Okorocha as the head of the ‘Rescue Mission’ is that he has succeeded in transforming the political psyche of the people to know that power belongs to the people and comes from the people.

“Governor Okorocha has also demystified governance and Office of the Governor as an institution and has proved that those in power are not spirits or super humans, but ordinary people like us, who are invested with power that belongs to the people and as  such,  the people who gave them the power should have unrestricted access to those in power. The governor has also galvanized the people to know the true meaning of democracy”.
