FA Frees Fellaini Over Spit Claim

The Football Association (FA) has cleared Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini over an alleged spitting incident during last week’s derby loss.

Fellaini was pictured standing over Manchester City’s defender Pablo Zabaleta and had faced a three-match ban pending evaluation.

But the Belgian player will be up for selection for Saturday’s trip to Newcastle, after the FA verdict.

“Having reviewed all available footage, the FA has decided that there is no case to answer,” an FA source was quoted as saying by the BBC Sport.

Fellaini, who joined the Old Trafford outfit from Everton for £27m last summer has struggled to make an impact at his new club.

He is expected to feature against European champions Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals first-leg home tie on Tuesday night.
