US Forensic Experts In Abuja As Investigation Starts Into Nyanya Bombings

As the casualty figure from the explosion that rocked a motor park in Nyanya, Abuja on Monday increases, forensic investigators from the United States of America, yesterday arrived Nigeria to join their Nigerian counterparts in conducting investigations.

Their arrival in the country might not be unconnected with speculations in security circles that British-born international terrorist, Samantha Lewthwaite aka White Widow, may have been behind the heinous attack that left over 71 persons dead and scores injured in retaliation for the death of her mentor, Al-Shabaab terror kingpin, Makaburi also known as Sheik Abubakar Shariff Ahmed, a fortnight ago.

It was reliably gathered that the forensic investigators are from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

A military officer, who spoke with Daily Sun on the condition of anonymity, said the forensic experts arrived the nation’s capital Tuesday morning and were immediately ferried to the scene of the carnage.

The source said: “Few investigators from the United States arrived Abuja this morning (yesterday) to join us in Nigeria to carry out a forensic investigation on what happened. Many of them are black, so you might not know recognise them. It is a joint operation. That means all the security agencies are involved”.

Meanwhile, one of the injured victims of the bomb blast gave up the ghost early hours of yesterday at the Asokoro General Hospital. According to officials of the hospital, the victim, who sustained severe burns and was unconscious throughout, died after various attempts by the medical team to stabilize the unnamed victim failed.
