The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), has called on the Federal Government to take drastic measures against security challenges threatening the corporate existence of the nation.

The Chairman, Kebbi State chapter of the CNPP, Alhaji Usman Abubakar, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.

He said the interest of the nation must be beyond the interest of some unidentified group of people, no matter how highly placed.

Abubakar noted that peace was paramount to human progress and its absence paralyses everything.

He advised the federal government to provide sophisticated weapons capable of countering the fire power of the insurgents.

“We have no country other than Nigeria and our cooperate existence and indivisibility are sacred.

“I want to implore our people to pray for divine intervention to secure the release of the school girls abducted in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno state.

“We in CNPP sympathise with parents of the victims as we condemn bomb blasts, kidnappings, extra judicial killings and abduction of innocent citizens.

“We would continue to pray and sensitise people on the importance of peace”, he said.

Abubakar called on politicians to always play politics with maturity, decency and understanding, especially considering the fact that 2015 elections were approaching.

He stressed that politics was not a do or die affair. (NAN)
