Newscaster Finds Out About Friend’s Death Live On Air When SHE Reports It

This is the heartbreaking moment a news anchor learned of her friend’s death as she reported it live on air.

Lee Chinhyu of Next TV News in Taiwan had to fight back tears as news of the suspected suicide of Erich Shih, 46, appeared on her autocue.

She was left visibly shaken as she delivered the news that Mr Shih, a fellow broadcaster with CtiTV, had been found dead in his home in Taipei on Thursday afternoon.

She told the camera: “Breaking news just in. It is reported that the CtiTV news anchor Eric Shih has been found today in his house – committed suicide. There was no note.

“The case is being investigated by the Taipei City Police Department, we will keep you updated.”

Police have said their investigation into Mr Shih’s death is ongoing. He returned to Taiwan in 2009 having worked for many years as a foreign correspondent in the United States.
