The Senator representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District, Kabiru Marafa, has advised the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Adoke, SAN, to withdraw the suit he filed against the Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, and the House leadership on the defection of some Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lawmakers to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Senator Marafa also told Adoke to act like a statesman and be neutral in the House politics and not to create the impression that he was Attorney General for the PDP and not the country, adding that if he (the AG) should go ahead with the suit, he should also include the list of all the lawmakers who had defected to the ruling PDP.
He said: “Within the next two weeks, I urge the Attorney General of the Federation to withdraw this suit against the speaker or join the other colleagues in the House of Representatives that also defected from other political parties to PDP.
“It is when he does so that we will call him the Attorney General of the Federation and not the Attorney General of the PDP. He should withdraw this suit within these two weeks.
“If he fails to do so, I urge my brother and Commander-in-Chief to show the Attorney-General, the way out (of the cabinet) and to assure the members of the House of Representatives that they can investigate ministers, or any government functionary as part of their oversight responsibility as enshrined in the constitution”, he said.
The AGF had on April 22, dragged the House Speaker to court to compel him to carry out the judgment of an Abuja Federal High Court, which declared vacant, seats of about 37 lawmakers, who defected from the PDP to the APC.
