Marquise Rashad Harris-Hill, 26 was arrested on Monday after allegedly beating a 5-year-old girl and forcing her to smoke marijuana.
The incident, which took place earlier in May, came to light because an anonymous source called 911 to report overhearing a child being beaten in an apartment nearby.
When officers went to the apartment to check the tip out, they found the little girl in her underwear, standing in a corner crying, with her head shaved.
According to police report, the child’s body displayed “visible bruises all around her torso.” Authorities are holding a “studded” belt as evidence after “welts” were found on the little girl’s arm. The child told officers that the beating started because she did not brush her teeth.
When questioned by the police the poor little girl revealed that Harris also forced her to smoke weed, that made her choke.
Hill was charged with first- first-degree criminal mistreatment, third-degree assault, unlawful application of a controlled substance to another person, unlawfully causing another individual to ingest a controlled substance and unlawful delivery of marijuana to a minor.
Sounds like he’s going to get life. The mother who lives at the home was not charged, although Harris told police that the child’s mother instructed him to beat the child.
Her mother should also be charged.. What do you think?
