Tambuwal Sues For Peace In Taraba

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal yesterday called on the people of Taraba State to live together peacefully irrespective of tribal, ethnic and religious differences.

Tambuwal made this call at Bali Local Government Area of the state while commissioning a number of motorcycles, sewing and grinding machines donated by the member representing Bali/Gasol federal constituency in the National Assembly, Mallam Aminu Manu to his constituents.

Scores of people have been killed and property worth millions destroyed in Bali, as the area had been engulfed with communal crisis between Fulani herdsmen and Tiv farmers.

He, however, expressed happiness that the items purchased by the member for distribution to the constituents would go a long way in engaging youths and women to reduce poverty in the area.

“No meaningful development can be achieved in a crisis prone area, only peace can give us such development that we are seen today to enjoy. Please my people let us bear with one another to leave in peace.

“Today, I received a chieftaincy title from the Chief of Bali and that makes me a son of the soil, anything that happens to Bali will affect me. Therefore, I am calling on all the people of this area to live in peace to allow development to take place,” the speaker said.
