Ghanaian Forward Jordan Ayew Joins Lorient

Jordan Ayew has left Olympique des Maresille to join fellow French League club Lorient on a four-year deal.

The 22-year-old was loaned to Socchaux in January after fallen down the pecking order at Marseille.

“The style and quality of play that is proposed here is perfect for me,” said Ayew, who scored 5 times for Socchaux in 17 Ligue 1 matches.

His older brother, Andre, with whom they both represented the ‘Black Stars’ at the World Cup in Brazil remains Marseille.

Both brothers are sons of three-time African player of the year, Abedi Pele.

Jordan follows Andre’s footsteps as the 24-year-old spent a season on loan at Lorient in 2008/09. He scored a total of 21 goals in 147 appearances for Marseille.

Jordan has been capped 13 times on the international stage and scored 5 times, including a hat-trick in the World Cup warm-up win over South Korea last month, after coming on as a first-half substitute.
