Gombe Immunises 900 Children

At least 900 children under age five were immunised in Gombe State during the Immunisation Plus Days, Dr Ahmed Gana, Executive Secretary, Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency, has said.

Gana made the statement on Saturday in Gombe in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said the achievement was as a result of the sensitiation programme embarked by staff of the agency in various communities across the state.

He said that in the course of the sensitisation programme, the staff paid special attention to Internally Displaced Persons Camps in the state.

“This is because there were cases of resistance among internally displaced persons.

“With the influx of people from neighbouring states into Gombe state as a result of the insurgency, we need to take precautionary measures,” he said.

The secretary expressed satisfaction with the quantity of vaccine supplied to the agency by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency.

He therefore appealed to parents to support the exercise by allowing health workers have access to their children and wards.
