The Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Mr Samson Osagie, yesterday, berated the politicians decamping from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Osagie wondered why those who claimed they wanted change were always the first to bail once their desires are not met at their political parties.
He also absolved Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of blame over the exit of some members of the party.
“I have observed with great dismay that some so called political heavy weights who shouted on top of their voices to clamour for change in the nation’s political landscape are the ones who are quick to decamp ones their immediate interest is not met. They are the once who will quickly blame Tinubu of having overbearing influence in the running of the APC and I ask how?” said Osagie, who represents Uhumwonde/Orhiomwon federal constituency, Edo State, in reaction to the comments by Chief Tom Ikimi, who resigned from APC Wednesday, after citing alleged dictatorial tendencies of Tinubu in the party.
“Unlike the Jagaban (Tinubu), these persons have no record of staying outside the comfort zone to remain consistent in opposition party for long and this attitude worries us the younger generation of politicians so greatly. Some of our self-acclaimed leaders should learn to live by certain guiding principles and bequeath to generations coming behind a political tradition that instill confidence rather than jump ship once an ambition is not meant.
“Like or hate Asiwaju, he has remained very consistent with opposition politics since 1999 even with all the might of the Federal Government, which sought to forcefully coerce the whole of South West into the ruling party at the federal level. But he remained dogged and fought back, today at least four out of the six states in the zone are firmly in the grip of the opposition party.”
