Dynamo Moscow midfielder Mathieu Valbuena has underwent an emergency appendectomy and will be sidelined from at least his side’s next two fixtures, according to sporting director Guram Adzhoev.
“Mathieu (Valbuena) felt acute pain Monday night,” Adzhoev said. “Our doctors reacted quickly and rushed him into the hospital where he underwent successful surgery.
“Valbuena is still in the hospital. It’s hard to predict the exact period of his complete recovery, but I think he will definitely miss the next two matches.”
The 29-year-old, who joined the Russian club in the close season, has scored two goals and collected five assists in eight matches.
Dynamo will face Greek club Panathinaikos in their opening UEFA Europa League group match in Athens on Thursday and visits Torpedo Moscow in Russai Premier League next Monday.
