The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Arc Yomi Awoniyi, has described the rumour making the rounds over the health of Governor Idris Wada as baseless and the handiwork of mischief makers.
Speaking in Lokoja, the state capital yesterday, Awoniyi said that there was no iota of truth in the rumour being spread by those who do not mean well for the state.
According to the deputy governor, though Wada is currently away from the state, he and other senior government officials were constantly in touch with him and even spoke with him on Friday adding that the governor was doing well and in high spirits.
Awoniyi wondered how some people would be peddling rumour on the ill health of a man who, according to him, since assumption of office as governor, has remained committed to the growth and development of the state.
The deputy governor, therefore, appealed to people of the state to shun rumour mongering as Governor Wada will be back in a few days time, noting that rumours are capable of retarding the growth of any society.
