NFF Urges Falcons to Aim for AWC Trophy

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has encouraged the Super Falcons to vie for the ultimate prize at this month’s African Women Championship (AWC) in Namibia.

Six-time champions Nigeria have been drawn in the same group as hosts Namibia, debutantes Zambia and Ivory Coast. The coach Edwin Okon-tutored ladies open their account against Cote d’Ivoire, who knocked out holders Equatorial Guinea in the qualifiers.

The newly elected FA boss, while addressing the players on Tuesday evening at the Fifa Goal Project Pitch- venue of their training sessions- urged them to welcome him into office by winning the African Women Championship trophy.

“This is a new dawn of a new beginning so I urge you girls to go to Namibia and conquer Africa. I want you girls to go and do this country proud,” said Pinnick..

“President Goodluck Jonathan has done well in sports in this country so we must his Transformation Agenda in sports by winning this trophy. I want to proudly as the NFF President lead you guys to the Presidential lounge where you will be honoured and accorded your pride of place after winning the trophy.

“But please make sure that you think success when you are playing, think Nigeria and whatever you need will be given to you.”
