Although the present emergency rule in Nigeria’s north eastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe have not stopped Boko Haram attacks in the region, the Federal Government is set to send a request for an extension, to the National Assembly.
“After a review of the state of Emergency in the affected states, government decided that it would ask the National Assembly for extension of state of emergency in the affected states,” said Mohammed Adoke, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke.
He made this known to state House Correspondents after a meeting of the National Defence Council.
According to Vanguard, the NDC meeting had Chief of Defense Staff, Chiefs of Army, Air force and Navy, as well as, the Inspector General of Police, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice and the National Security Adviser, all in attendance.
The emergency rule in the three states have been extended thrice. The last extension elapsed yesterday.
