Injured Sturridge Faces Further Spell Out

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge will have a scan on his thigh problem on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old England forward has not played for the Anfield club since August 31 due to a thigh strain he sustained on international duty.

A calf strain delayed his first comeback to rejoin full training in October. He only returned to full training last week before injuring his thigh again on Tuesday and could face another spell on the sidelines.

Liverpool have won only four of their 14 matches in Sturridge’s absence and are presently placed 11th in the league table.

Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert have all drawn blanks while all 14 of Brendan Rodgers’ side’s goals this season have come from other outfield players.

Sturridge scored 21 goals in 29 Premier League matches last season as the ‘Reds’ finished runners-up behind City.
