NOA Director Warns Politicians Against Buying Of Voters’ Cards

permanent-voters-cards-pvcThe Oyo State Director of National Orientation Agency, Mr Remi Omowon, has warned politicians in the state against buying voter cards or amassing them by fraudulent means, saying the system put in place by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the 2015 general election would checkmate any attempt to vote by proxy.

Omowon spoke on Tuesday at the Oyo State House of Chiefs, Ibadan, during the agency’s Voter Education and Security Awareness Campaign.

He said, “Politicians should not bother to buy voter cards as the arrangement put in place by INEC will not allow for voting by proxy or using another person’s voter card. We call on the electorates not to sell their voter cards because it’s the only instrument they have to choose who will be their leader and how the nation’s future will be determined. Anyone who sells his or her voter card has committed electoral malpractice. We call on political parties, security agencies, judiciary, INEC and media involved in the process to play it according to the rules and regulations governing elections”.
