Presidency Tasks PDP Members On Tambuwal’s Removal

President Goodluck Jonathan has given the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers the order to ensure that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal is removed from office, Vanguard has reported.

The news platform cited a source close to the presidency as saying that Jonathan was angry about the recent developments at the House of Representatives and therefore told members of the House at a meeting held at the Presidential Villa on Friday night to start the process of removing the speaker.

“We had to apologise to him and promised to carry out his instructions as to how to remove the speaker,” the source said.

“Towards this end, we’ve summoned all our members to reach Abuja tomorrow, unfailingly to attend a meeting with our party leaders,” the source was quoted as saying.

Vanguard also quoted another member of the House as calling Tambuwal a betrayer.

“Why we are angry with Tambuwal is simple-he betrayed the collective trust of we PDP lawmakers”.

“He became speaker because we believed in him and he rode on our back to achieve his dreams”.

“Then barely 48hours after at the APC convention he went berserk and started calling PDP names that was a serious betrayal of trust and this was where he shot himself on the foot”.

Tambuwal had at a House plenary last Tuesday announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a decision that brought him under a series of attack that has led to several controversies.

Nothing will be heard from the House of Reps until December 3 as the Speaker adjourned sitting until then, shortly after his defection.
