Awoniyi, Muhammed Lead Overseas Pros to Flying Eagles Camp

Flying Eagles duo of Taiwo Awoniyi and Musa Muhammed have already arrived camp for the 2015 African Youth Championship (AYC).

Both players lead the foreign-based charges of invited Nigeria U-20 cadet players, with seven others expected before January 15. The 2015 AYC kicks off on March 8 in Dakar.

The other oversees youngsters invited for the tournament are: Isaac Success, Musa Yahaya, Moses Simon, Kingsley Madu and Chidera Eze, Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidiebere Nwakali.

The Team’s secretary, Auwal Aliyu Ibrahim, says he has been in contact with Manchester City over the release of Iheanacho and Nwakali.

The junior Eagles’ training camp resumed in Kaduna at the weekend following the Christmas break. The team now trains twice daily at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.

They will play in an invitational tournament later next month as part of their preparation for the AYC.

The Nigeria U-20 begins their AYC campaign against hosts Senegal on March 8 in Dakar. They will also face Cote d’Ivoire and Congo in their pool.
