A governorship aspirant of the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Babatunde Gbadamosi yesterday stormed venue of the party’s primaries wearing a bulletproof vest.

Gbadamosi told journalists at the venue that he wore the vest in order to protect himself from being hit by a stray bullet following the violence that erupted earlier in the day.

The leadership of the PDP had blamed the violence on thugs loyal to the opposition party, Gbadamosi, however said that the real perpetrators of the violence were from within the PDP. He called it a ploy to intimidate the delegates present at the primaries.

“I am wearing the bulletproof vest because I am afraid of being shot at but I am urging all my supporters to come and should not be intimidated.”There is fear of intimidation and some people in the party want to intimidate the delegates but we will ensure that everyone will vote fearlessly and as it pleases them,” he said.

Jimi Agbaje eventually emerged winner of the primaries, defeating Former Minister Musiliu Obanikoro. Agbaje had over 400 votes, while Obanikoro got 346 votes.
