This is some really sad news reaching us from Mile2 in Lagos as a 25-year-old former student who was dismissed from the University of Lagos, Oluropo Tifase, has allegedly stabbed his father, Moses Tifase, to death because the father tried to talk to him about living a purposeful life instead of wasting away on irrelevant things.
Detectives from the Homicide department of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos had arrested him.
Sources resident at the area where he purportedly committed the crime revealed to the police that the suspect actually murdered his father.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kenneth Nwosu, revealed that those in police custody were Comfort Tifase (wife of the deceased), Oluropo and Olufunmbi Tifase.
Nwosu further disclosed the findings from investigations which showed that the suspect was at loggerheads with his father who was not pleased with his behaviour before he killed him.
“The suspect and his late father had a sour relationship, due to his unruly behaviour. The father and the son have not been in good relationship, but on the fateful day of the incident, the suspect and his father engaged each other in a serious argument.
“The suspect angrily picked up a scissors and stabbed his father on the neck,” said the PPRO.
As at the time the police officers from FESTAC Police Station arrived the scene, the deceased was lying in the pool of his own blood lifelessly. The scissors with which he committed the abominable act was recovered by the police.
Nwosu also stated that three suspects had been transferred to SCID, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation into the case.
