DESTINATION MILANO: Fanfare Greets Podolski’s Arrival In Milan

Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski arrived in Milan on Friday evening for advanced talks with Internazionale.

The German World Cup winner was cheered by fans of the Serie A club at the Milano Linate Airport.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed on Thursday that the north London outfit have received an improved offer for the 29-year-old.

The Frenchman said: “The first proposal was farcical; after, they came back a bit more serious.

“We will see what happens. Inevitable? Not in the transfer market. It’s very difficult to say, but we’ll see.”

Speculations about Podolski’s exit has been rife, despite Wenger describing it as “a joke” on December 30, 2014.

The £11m signing from Cologne in 2012 has not started a Premier League match this season. His last appearance with Arsenal came in the 4-1 win over Newcastle on December 28.

He missed the New Year’s Day’s defeat by Southampton with a groin injury and was an unused substitute in the 2-1 win at West Ham on December 28.

Podolski has scored 31 goals for Arsenal in 82 games and 41 times in 121 Germany caps.
