The crisis rocking the Adamawa State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, seems far from over as the former political adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak, has warned the national leadership of the party against settling the Adamawa State Governor, Bala Ngilari, with his duly won ticket.
Mr. Gulak, who won the PDP ticket for Adamawa North Senatorial District, noted that only seven aspirants contested the primary in Abuja and Gov. Ngilari, was not one of them.
“(Ngilari) did not even buy the form for the senatorial zone”, Mr. Gulak said. “The sitting governor did not contest with us and he cannot be the flag bearer of the Adamawa North senatorial district”.
The former presidential aide, who addressed journalists in Yola, the Adamawa State Capital, noted that Mr. Ngilari contested the governorship primaries and not the northern senatorial district primary.
“In fact he was screened in Bauchi and was declared to contest the PDP governorship ticket”, Mr. Gulak said. “I contested the primaries with six others. They are Col. Mana, Kari Abubakar, Mr. Cliff, Muhammad Murtala among others. I won the primaries with 84 votes; I was declared winner and my name duly submitted to INEC”.
He maintained that he did not step down for anybody as being speculated.
“I am aware of the substitution of my name for that of the governor by the national secretariat”, he said. “This is wrong unconstitutional and I am contesting this action in the court”.
Mr. Gulak pointed out that Ngilari was currently the governor of the state because of the court and he would pursue the case to a logical conclusion.
