Elections Are Contests Among Brothers – Jonathan

Goodluck Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has advised Nigerians to be mindful of the words they use, encouraging good and peaceable words, as the general elections were contests among brothers and sisters.

Jonathan wrote this on his official Facebook page, where he called for peaceful polls as Nigerians prepare to choose their next set of leaders.

“I want to remind us all that we have no other country other than Nigeria and as we approach the elections, it is wise that we speak good and peaceable words over Nigeria because we will have to eat our words. So let us make them sweet rather than bitter.

“We must see the coming polls as a contest amongst brothers and sisters from the womb of one Nigeria.”

Jonathan also urged political gladiators to avoid the use of threats and desperation in their campaign. He said whatever the outcome of the polls, victory should be for Nigeria and Nigerians.

The presidential election holds on March 28, after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed it from the previously scheduled February 14, citing security issues.

  1. Well, President GEJ we know you are a good man and you love the Notherners. But you got to be careful because you got no brother in them. They can’t be trusted. No matter how much you wash a pig, it must surely return to the swamp.

  2. By their names you shall know them… Jonathan stands for peace and unity. That’s why God will not let him down. No matter the names that. People have called you, yet your victory is sure. You remain my President Jonathan. A symbol of peace and unity. I love Mr. president

    • In the election of the OAU Secretary-General in 1985, Buhari voted against Nigeria and for Niger instead. He secured the election of Ide Oumarou, a Fulani man from Niger; as opposed to an Igbo man from Nigeria. By so doing, Buhari became the first and only Head of State in the history of modern international relations to vote against his country in favour of his tribe. so GMB should go to Niger and source for his brothers and votes there.

  3. Perhaps this is an eye opener,”In the election of the OAU Secretary-General in 1985, Buhari voted against Nigeria and for Niger instead. By so doing, Buhari became the first and only Head of State in the history of modern international relations to vote against his country in favour of his tribe. so GMB should go to Niger and source for his brothers and votes there.” So can we ask mr President where exactly this his ‘Buhari brother’ stands in the face of this new fact that his’brother Buhari’may not be a Nigerian after all.
