President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, held a closed-door meeting with the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, as he continues soliciting support for his reelection bid.

Jonathan was reported to have asked the monarch to support him so that he could consolidate on his present achievements.

In his response, Oba Adeyemi cautioned Nigerians against any form of violence before, during and after the general elections, adding that there could be no development without peace. However, there was no statement reported to have committed the monarch to Jonathan’s re-election bid.

Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Oyo State, Yinka Taiwo, on Saturday expressed optimism that Nigerians would vote massively for President Goodluck Jonathan in the forthcoming presidential election.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at his Iseyin residence, Taiwo based the optimism on Jonathan’s performance in the last six years of his administration.

He said that the giant strides recorded in so many areas of governance would convince Nigerians to vote for continuity of the Jonathan-Sambo administration.

“Objective minded individuals know well that the administration has done well in many spheres and I have no iota of doubt that they will return us to power.
