Borno Govt. Pledge Assistance To Displaced Traders

bornoThe Borno Government said on Thursday that it would assist road side traders recently displaced by security agents.

Alhaji Bashehu Lawan, the Commissioner for Justice in the state, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri.

Lawan, who is the chairman of the committee on the rehabilitation of the displaced traders, said the state government was not happy with the development.

“We urged affected traders to exercise restraint and take the whole thing as an act of God.

“We will try our best to provide succour to the affected traders to enable them go back to business”, Lawan said.

Lawan said the state government was touched by the conditions of the traders who lost means of livelihood.

“Although government has lot of areas demanding attention, we will come up with something to ameliorate their sufferings.

“We might not be able to pay them back completely, but we will strive to help them somehow”, he said.

Lawan urged the traders to remain prayerful so that the insecurity in the state would come to an end.

NAN reports that security agents had on Tuesday cleared temporary shops along major roads in Maiduguri after renewed suicide bombings in the city. (NAN)
