Four Adamawa Governorship Candidates Step Down For Ribadu

Nuhu Ribadu2With less than a month to the governorship elections in Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in Adamawa State, Nuhu Ribadu, has received the endorsement of four of his challengers, who stepped down for him.

The candidates declared their support for the former EFCC chairman at a press conference held Thursday in Yola, the state capital.

Those who have endorsed Mr. Ribadu were the candidates of KOWA party, Mega Progressive Peoples Party, MPPP; National Conscience Party, NCP; and All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

A spokesperson for the group, Abdulnasir Hamman, and candidate of MPPP said “our decision was compelled by our desire to put in place a credible government that Adamawa people can be proud”.

According him, “it is because of the quality we found in Mr. Ribadu that the leadership of our various parties decided to work together with PDP’s Nuhu Ribadu in the forthcoming election”.

It would be recalled that the same group had earlier declared its support for the Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM, candidate in the coming governorship election.

In apparent reference to their initial political alliance, the parties’ spokesman said “We were misguidedly tangled into a partnership that we thought will yield something positive for the people of Adamawa”.
