Hammers’ Valencia Doubtful For Weekend’s Derby After Slitting His Toe

West Ham United could be without striker, Enner Valencia, who sustained a cut on his toe in a domestic accident on Tuesday evening, in their next game.

The Ecuadorian trampled on a broken teacup which fell off his hand and required few stitches on the wound.

“Enner has had an accident at home and has cut his big toe quite severely on a broken cup,” manager Sam Allardyce to the club’s official website. “It has been stitched.”

“We’re not exactly certain but we think it will be too soon for him to be considered for the game at Arsenal on Saturday.

“It was a freak accident at a time when we could have done without it due to our lack of available strikers.”

The Hammers face a short trip to neighbours Arsenal on Saturday. Valencia has made 30 appearances since joining the Hammers from Mexican side Pachuca in summer 2014, scoring five goals.

The Hammers are tenth in the table on 39 points after 28 matches.
