The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Saturday’s governorship election in Adamawa State, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has urged Christians and Muslims in the state to always preach peace as it was the only prerequisite for any meaningful development.

Speaking on the occasion of Easter Sunday, in a statement issued in Yola by the Head of Media Nuhu Ribadu Campaign Organization, Mallam Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, Mallam Ribadu noted that without peace, no meaningful development could be achieved. He therefore asked that people exhibit a peaceful conduct during Saturday’s governorship polls.

Nigerians go to the polls on April 11 to elect the country’s next set of governors. It is generally expected to be peaceful judging from how the presidential election went.

In a sermon to mark the Easter Sunday at a special church service, the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Yola, Most Reverend Stephen Dami Mamza, observed that the peaceful conduct of the presidential election had disproved the notion that Nigerians could not conduct peaceful elections, maintaining that the last general election would mark the beginning of peaceful co-existence among the generality of Nigerians.

He also urged Christians to use the period of Easter for a sober reflection and rededicate themselves to the service of God.
