Van Persie ‘Able to Play Again’ Ahead of Manchester Derby

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has disclosed that he is back to full training ahead of Sunday’s decisive derby.

The Dutch striker has not featured for the Red Devils since hobbling off with an ankle injury during his side’s 2-1 defeat by Swansea City in February.

The 31-year-old took to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon to reveal he is “Back to training with the group today.

He added: “Was a great session. Happy to be fit and able to play again. Looking forward to my next game!”

Van Persie scored 10 Premier League goals and made two assists in 24 games before suffering the injury setback.

Saturday’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa saw United move up to third place in the Premier League table.

Louis van Gaal’s side head into Sunday’s clash with neighbours Manchester City with a point advantage over their fierce local rivals. The defending champions were beaten 2-1 by Crystal Palace on Monday night.
