El-Rufai Bags Governors’ Performance Award

Nasir El-RufaiGovernor Nasir Ahmad El-rufa’i of Kaduna State has won the monthly CIAPS Governors Performance Index (CGPI) award.

Governors Abdullahi Ganduje and Waziri Tambuwal of Kano and Sokoto States respectively were tied at second place.

The CGPI, conducted by the Lagos-based Centre for International Advanced and Professional Studies, CIAPS, is a monthly performance review of governors’ performance across the country.

CGPI coordinator, Mr Olumuyiwa Ayoola, said yesterday that the variables used as indexes for performance were mathematically calculated and this month’s variables included “Readiness for Office, Innovation in Office, Ability to be in tune with mood of the nation and Security and Leadership by example”.

Since assuming office on May 29, Mr. El-rufa’i has blazed the trail in reducing the salary and allowances of the governor and deputy governor by 50 per cent, putting a stop to the annual Ramadan welfare packages as well as blocking leakages by ordering a biometric verification exercise of all civil servants in the state’s employ among others.
