Everton Seal Deulofeu Permanent Signing

Everton have sealed a £4.3m signing of Gerard Deulofeu from Barcelona on a three-year deal.

The Spaniard, 21, had a successful loan spell at Goodison Park in the 2013-14 season, when he featured in 25 league matches and scored three times.

An injury-blighted campaign with back-to-back Europa League winners Sevilla in the 2014-15 season restricted the winger to just 28 matches in all competitions.

He has turned down lucrative offers to return to Merseyside and will complete transfer formalities on 1 July.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes Deulofeu could still developed into one of the game’s best young talent.

“Gerard needs no introduction to anyone here at Everton. We are all well aware of his incredible footballing talent,” Martinez said.

“Gerard considers Everton as home and we are getting an even more mature player now than he was a couple of seasons ago.”

Barcelona are believed will insert a buy-back option in Deulofeu’s contract.

The one time Spain international is the second player to join the Toffees following the signing of Tom Cleverley from Manchester United after a loan season at Aston Villa.
