Kogi Judge Regains Freedom After 34 Days In Kidnappers’ Den

Kogi State High Court Judge, Justice Samuel Obayomi has been released by kidnappers, 34 days after he was abducted.

State Commissioner for Police, Mr Samuel Ogunjemilusi and the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Nasir Ajanah have both confirmed the release.

According to the CP, who spoke in Lokoja on Sunday, Obayomi was released Saturday night between 10:00 and 11:30. Ogunjemilusi who could not say where and how the judge was released or if any ransom was paid however disclosed that he had been taken to a safe place but he was yet to be released to his family.

On his part, Justice Nasir Ajanah said: “We thank God for that but I cannot give you more information than you already have.”

Obayomi, the High Court Judge of Ebogogo in Adavi Local Government of Kogi State was kidnapped on Monday, May 25, at about 8:45 on his way to the office by a three-member gang. The kidnappers had also shot his police orderly Cpl Usman Musa, dead on the spot. They demanded N150 million ransom for his release.
